🇬🇧Interview Time: Blackbanshee

1) Just a typical first question plus something new: how did you start to drawing and who were, and are, your favourite mansters? Self-thaught or art school?
As in the most classic of the stories, I've always drawn since I was little (mostly unicorns and pegasus at the beginning).
I attended sector schools, liceo artistico (art high school in Italy) and  an illustration class, but talking about working field I've always been unlucky and also in this case schools didn't work for me since they didn't give anything. So I prefer to say I'm self-taught since I learned alone and with other professional artists' advices.
My masters are Alfons Mucha, early 1900s tales illustrators like Arthur Rackham and Claire Wendling.

2) From your drawings and your stories we can see that your favourite characters are mythical and  florklore's different characters. Why do you find them so charming? Who are your favourite ones and in whom do you reflect yourself the most?
Because reality is really tough to me: I can't find any collocation in society, since it doesn't reflect me and I'm mostly sad or anxious for something than happy... Florklore is a consoling refuge that I use for thinking or pretend that exist  the extraordinary in the ordinary or that just going in a forest would be enought, and reach my hand to touch something wanderful.  It distact me from my negative thoughts.
My favourite creatures are the ones who look inoffensive, but that are lethal, especially if they are some aquatic species. I also like like natural divinities who are ancient, proud of themselfs and powerfull.
I would like to be a nature' spirit who punish disrespectuf umans.

3) Your publications are mostly self-published. Why did you choose to take this path instead of  going with a publishing house?
For no reason... I started in this way, and for now it works. I'll tell you, I don't believe too much in this job and in my capacities enought to propose myself to a publisher. But if one of them told me "Ehi you, I love your style and I will give you a lot of money to let you draw whatever you want and whenever you want" well, we can talk about it!^__^''

4) How  was it to see published one of your works with Shockdom?
It gave me an opportunity to reach a national distribution that I could never have done it alone and I was also able to make the volume more valuable by enriching it, so it was a wanderful experience!

5)Another theme you talk about aften is the respect for the natural enviroment. Why do you give so much importance to it?
Because I prefer natural world and other animals compared to human beings and their dirty, noisy and savage world.
And never like today it is necessary to remember to everyone that is time to give up about selfishness, cruelty and incivility since we're killing our wanderfull planet and his sons and other marvelous creature with our hands.
I can't understend why everyone rest so indifferent, just watching it happens. So if I can do something for my Mother Nature (apart from what I'm already doing with my behavior and my choises) I'll do it happily.

6) What it a work of yours that you loved to realize until now and with whom you have a special relationship?
"Memoirs of a Feline Spirit" is my first long story and I love so much its characters I became more attached to them than I expected.

7) In conclusion, do you have new projects that you want to realize or other themes and myths that you would like to talk about one day?
At the moment I'm working on an anthological comic that tells about nine meetings with yokais and bakemonos. It would be a sort of  bestiary.
I also have an idea for Memoirs sequel and I hope to realize an interesting story in the future.
Most of all, I would like to retire to the countryside, to manage a B&B and make the world to lose my tracks. I dream a quiet life.
