๐ฌ๐ง ๐๐ค๐ฃ๐๐๐ก๐ ๐ฎ๐น.2: ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ป๐ผ ๐ธ๐ฏ ๐ช ๐๐ฎ๐ต๐ฒ๐ท๐ฎ ๐ข๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฝ
Ohayoo minna-san! And welcome in the new episode (the first one in english) of AUTOPRO, the monthly rubric about italian or foreign selfproduction comics. For the month of April/May, since because of covid I couldn't buy anything new, I had to search in my library the titles I already had, my eye fell on Memoirs of a Feline Spirit by Marga Biazzi, also known as Blackbanshee. I thought this was the best title for this sakura blossom season.
You have to know that Marga's stories characters are very often legendary japanese spirits. I had already noticed that by reading Piccole Ballate crudeli, another title of the authoress which was first an autoproduction and now it had found a new home in Shockdom, an italian publishing house. But if this title was mainly focused on nature safeguard seeing this one as the ruthless main character that repays the uman being with the same destructive money, Memoirs of a Feline Spirit main theme is love. Nevertheless, nature theme is also present, but this time it is seen in a different point of view. Of course, there will also be present our legenday friends which include the main protagonist a cat spirit who, after being around all the world, decides to stop in Paris and starts to live with Etienne, the human boy for whom she fells in love. But she can't confess her feelings to him. As it wasn't enought, one day her human takes home a friend that the home-cat-spirit doesn't like very much.
How can I describe all the emotions that this comic has left me? It is very difficoult becouse of his beauty: his illustrations' style, his storytelling and his layout make it look more as an ancient tale which was bring to our days from who know what era, despite, it is perfectly setted in our days.
I'm sure that you, as it happened to me, will fall in love with everything about this story and its characters, especially the main character (I don't want to spoiler you her name :)) whitch I am fond about after I read her past days. From the first page you'll feel like to dive inside the story world and take place in it yourself and invisibily follow them with the story going on and when you'll turn the last page and close the comic you will feel appeased on one side and nostalgic on the other one. You will understand only reading it.
And for this month appointment we've finished! Or, almost finish because, in the next days I will bring you here on this blog a surprise, so you better stay tuned. Marga already knows.
